It hosts calculators for Malaysian money, work, family and religious matters (salary and PCB, EPF, home and car loans, zakat, faraid, gold, STR, maternity leave and more) in Bahasa Melayu and English, plus developer, SEO and content tools. Articles and guides stay on the main blog; this site holds the tools.

Who builds and checks the tools

Ismail Ariffin is a Malaysian web developer and the publisher of The Bukit Besi. Ismail builds and maintains every calculator on this site: the calculation code, its automated tests, the Bahasa Melayu and English pages, and the check of each rate against official sources before it is published. Each tool page names Ismail as its author and shows the date its rules were last verified. More about Ismail and the blog is on the The Bukit Besi about page.

How each calculator is checked

  1. Official sources first. Rates, thresholds and laws are taken from the agency that sets them: LHDN, KWSP, PERKESO, JPJ, Bank Negara Malaysia, JTKSM, JPA, PNB, Tabung Haji, the state religious councils and the Federal Gazette.
  2. Two sources for every figure. Each number is confirmed by at least two sources. When published figures conflict, the tool leaves the figure out and says so on the page instead of guessing.
  3. Tested maths. Every calculation lives in one tested module. The worked examples and FAQ answers on each page are produced by the same code that runs in your browser, so the numbers you read and the numbers you get always match.
  4. Dated. Each page shows the date its rules were last verified and lists its sources with links.

How often figures are updated

  • Daily: gold prices and Bank Negara exchange rates, fetched automatically.
  • Weekly: fuel prices from the Ministry of Finance.
  • After each Budget, Bank Negara rate decision or law change: tax, loan, stamp duty, EPF, SOCSO and leave rules.
  • Yearly: dividends, zakat and fidyah rates, public holidays and aid programmes.

Your data stays on your device

Calculators run in your browser. The figures you enter are not sent to us or stored on a server. See the privacy policy.

What the tools are not

Results are estimates based on published rules. They are not financial, tax, legal or religious rulings. For faraid, zakat and other religious matters, the state religious authority or syariah court has the final word; for tax and payroll, LHDN and your employer. See the terms of use.

Corrections

If a rate has changed or a result looks wrong, please tell us through the contact page with the page link and the official source. Confirmed errors are fixed and the page's verified date is updated.

How the site is funded

The tools are free and funded by Google AdSense advertising. Advertisers have no say in the content or results, and no tool recommends a paid product.
