GitHub to jsDelivr Converter

Paste a GitHub file link to get a free jsDelivr CDN URL that browsers can load as a script or stylesheet: github.com/user/repo/blob/main/app.js becomes cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/user/repo@main/app.js. You also get the minified version and a ready HTML tag.

Branch links are cached for up to 12 hours, so updates appear late. For a live site, create a release tag and use @version, or a commit hash.

How to use GitHub files as a CDN

  1. Upload the file to a public GitHub repository (CSS, JavaScript, fonts or theme images).
  2. Open the file on GitHub and copy the address from the browser bar.
  3. Paste it here and copy the jsDelivr URL or the ready HTML tag.
  4. For a live site, use a release tag or commit instead of a branch, so a change on GitHub cannot break your site and the file is cached forever.
  5. Paste the tag into Blogger (Theme, Edit HTML, before </head>) or your site's template.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a GitHub link to jsDelivr?

Paste the link to the file on GitHub, such as https://github.com/jquery/jquery/blob/3.6.4/dist/jquery.js, and you get https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/jquery/jquery@3.6.4/dist/jquery.js. The pattern is https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/user/repo@version/file, where version is a release tag, a branch or a commit hash. Several links can be pasted at once, one per line.

Why can't I use raw.githubusercontent.com links on my site?

GitHub serves raw files as plain text with the X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff header, so browsers refuse to run them as JavaScript or apply them as CSS. Raw links are also rate-limited and not built for website traffic. jsDelivr serves the same files with the right content type from a global CDN.

Why don't my changes show on the jsDelivr link?

jsDelivr caches branch links (such as @main) for up to 12 hours and latest or version-range links for up to 7 days. Links to an exact version or commit never change. For a live website, tag a release (for example 1.0.1) and update the link, or use the commit hash; jsDelivr's purge tool can refresh @latest and alias links sooner.

Can jsDelivr minify my JavaScript or CSS?

Yes. Add .min before .js or .css (app.js becomes app.min.js) and jsDelivr generates a minified copy if the repository does not have one. The converter gives the minified URL first for JS and CSS files.

Can I host images for Blogger on GitHub with jsDelivr?

Theme assets such as a logo, icons, fonts, CSS and JavaScript are fine. jsDelivr's acceptable use policy forbids using it as a general-purpose file or media hosting service, for example as storage for all the images of a site, so keep post photos on Blogger's own image hosting. Files over 20 MB from GitHub are not served.

Does it work with private repositories?

No. jsDelivr only serves public GitHub repositories and the files must be meant for public use. Do not put API keys or secrets in a repository you load through a CDN.

Is jsDelivr free?

Yes, jsDelivr is a free, open-source public CDN for files from npm and public GitHub repositories, with no sign-up. It serves billions of requests a month through several CDN providers.
