QR Code Generator

Make a free QR code that never expires for a link, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, contact card, email, SMS, phone number or map location. The details are stored inside the code, not behind a redirect, and it is made in your browser. Add colours and a logo, then download a PNG or SVG.

Example: a Wi-Fi QR code for a café

Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network Kedai Kopi and password kopi1234, keep WPA and download a PNG at 1024 px. Print it about 10 cm wide for a counter sign: customers point their camera at it and tap Join, without typing the password. If you change the password later, make a new code.

Capacity is for the largest QR code, version 40 (177 × 177 modules). M is the most common level; H is used when a logo covers part of the code.

How the generator works

  1. Payload: your details are written in the format phone cameras recognise, for example WIFI:, mailto: or a wa.me link.
  2. Encoding: the text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes (so Malay, Chinese and Tamil work) and the smallest QR version that fits is chosen.
  3. Error correction: Reed–Solomon codes at the level you pick let scanners read a scratched or partly covered code.
  4. Drawing: the modules are drawn as SVG with your colours and style; the three corner squares stay solid so phones lock on quickly.

Tips for QR codes that scan first time

  • Dark on light: light codes on dark backgrounds (inverted) fail on some scanners; the generator warns you.
  • Keep the border: leave the white margin of 4 modules; do not crop it when designing.
  • Short is better: a short link gives a less dense code that scans from further away.
  • Test before printing: scan with an Android phone and an iPhone at the real size.
  • Need a chat link only? The WhatsApp Link Generator also makes its QR code.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a QR code for free?

Choose what the code should open (a link, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, contact card, email, SMS, phone number or map location), fill in the details, and the QR code updates as you type. Pick colours or add a logo if you like, then download it as PNG or SVG. There is no sign-up and no watermark.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. These are static QR codes: the link or details are stored inside the code itself, not behind a redirect on our server, so they keep working for as long as the link they point to works. Many 'dynamic' QR services send scans through their own server, which can stop when a subscription ends.

How do I make a QR code for Wi-Fi?

Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name (SSID) and password, and keep WPA unless your router uses WEP or no password. The code holds WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;; so guests can point the camera and join; Android 10 and later and recent iPhones support this.

Can I put a logo in the middle?

Yes. Add a logo and the generator switches to error correction H, which lets a scanner recover about 30% of damaged or covered modules. The logo covers about 22% of the width; always test-scan with two phones before printing.

What size should I print a QR code?

Keep it at least 2 × 2 cm, and for longer distances use about one tenth of the scanning distance: a code scanned from 1 m should be about 10 cm wide. This is industry guidance, not part of the QR standard. Keep the white border (quiet zone) of 4 modules around the code.

Can I make a DuitNow QR code here?

No. DuitNow QR follows the EMV merchant-presented standard and must be issued through your bank or e-wallet, which registers you with PayNet. Ask your bank for your DuitNow QR; a self-made payment QR will not be accepted by banking apps.

How much text can a QR code hold?

The largest QR code (version 40) holds 2,953 bytes at error correction L, or 1,273 bytes at H. Shorter content makes a smaller, easier-to-scan code, so use a short link where you can. The generator warns you if the text is too long.
