How to edit a photo online

  1. Open a photo, drop it on the picture or paste it (Ctrl+V). For a design from scratch, choose New canvas.
  2. Crop and straighten under Crop: pick a ratio for Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, rotate or flip.
  3. Fix light and colour under Adjust, or tap Auto enhance; try a look under Filters. Hold "Hold to compare" to see the original.
  4. Add text, shapes or drawing. Each is a layer you can move, resize, rotate, fade or blend.
  5. Export as JPG for photos, PNG for graphics with sharp text, or WebP for websites.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a free alternative to Photoshop?

For everyday edits, yes. It crops, rotates, resizes, fixes light and colour with 14 adjustments, applies 13 filters, adds text, shapes and drawings on layers with blend modes, and exports JPG, PNG or WebP, free and without an account. It is not a full replacement: there are no selections, masks, healing brush or RAW files. Photoshop is a trademark of Adobe, which is not connected with this tool.

How do I crop a photo for Instagram or TikTok?

Open the photo, choose Crop and pick a ratio: 1:1 for a square post, 4:5 for a portrait post or 9:16 for stories, Reels and TikTok. Drag the frame to place it, drag a corner to resize, then Apply crop. To get an exact size, use Resize afterwards, for example 1080 × 1350 for a 4:5 post.

How do I add text to a photo?

Choose Text, then Add text. Type in the box; pick a font, size, colour, outline and shadow, or a background box for captions. Drag the text on the picture to move it and drag the corner handle to make it bigger. Each text is its own layer, so it stays editable until you download.

Will editing reduce my photo's quality?

Edits are applied to a copy and your original stays untouched until you export. Exporting as PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP at 90% quality look the same as the original for most photos at a much smaller size; the Scale option lets you export smaller or larger. Exports never contain EXIF or GPS data.

Can I make a YouTube thumbnail or social media post?

Yes. Choose New canvas and pick YouTube thumbnail (1280 × 720, the size YouTube recommends), Square post (1080 × 1080), Portrait post (1080 × 1350) or Story (1080 × 1920). Add photos as layers, then text and shapes, and export as JPG.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The editor runs in any current browser on Android and iPhone. Drag with one finger to move layers and draw; the controls sit below the picture. Very large photos (over 8,192 pixels on a side) are scaled down to keep the phone responsive.

Are my photos uploaded or stored?

No. Photos are opened, edited and saved on your device with the browser's canvas, so they never leave it, and the page works offline after one visit. Nothing is kept after you close the page, so download your result before leaving.
