Title case rules used (AP style)
- Capitalise nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns and any word of four letters or more.
- Lowercase these words unless they come first, last or after a colon: a, an, the, and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet, as, at, by, in, of, off, on, per, to, up, via.
- Hyphenated words follow the same rule for each part: Step-by-Step.
AP style and the Chicago Manual of Style differ on longer prepositions (Chicago lowercases with, from and about; AP capitalises them). The converter cannot tell when to, up or on is part of a verb, so check phrasal verbs such as "Set Up" by hand.
Developer naming conventions
Words are split at spaces, punctuation and lower-to-upper case changes, so user profile, userProfile, user_profile and User-Profile all convert the same way. Apostrophes are dropped (don't becomes dont). Letters with accents are kept in code cases and removed only in the URL slug.
Note: Malay headings follow their own capitalisation guidance; the Title Case button uses English AP rules, so check small words such as di, dan and yang in Malay titles by hand.

What is title case?
Title case capitalises the main words of a heading. This converter follows AP style: articles (a, an, the) and conjunctions and prepositions of three letters or fewer (and, but, or, for, in, of, on, to, by…) stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word or follow a colon. Example: "The Lord of the Rings" and "How to Calculate EPF Contribution in Malaysia: A Step-by-Step Guide for 2026".
What is the difference between sentence case and title case?
Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence (and names you typed in capitals), like a normal sentence: "How to calculate EPF contribution". Title case capitalises every main word: "How to Calculate EPF Contribution". Google and many style guides use sentence case for headings because it is easier to read; newspapers and books often use title case.
Will it lowercase acronyms like SEO or KWSP?
No. Words already written fully in capitals, such as SEO, EPF, KWSP or NASA, are kept as they are in sentence case, title case and Capitalize Each Word. If the whole text is in capitals, it is treated as shouting and converted normally. Untick Keep acronyms to lowercase them too.
What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case?
They are ways to join words into one name without spaces. camelCase (userName) is used for JavaScript and Java variables, PascalCase (UserName) for class names, snake_case (user_name) for Python and database columns, CONSTANT_CASE (USER_NAME) for constants, and kebab-case (user-name) for CSS classes, file names and URLs.
How do I convert a list of variable names at once?
Paste one name per line. Developer cases convert each line separately, so firstName, last_name and Date-Of-Birth on three lines become first_name, last_name and date_of_birth in snake_case. Words are split at spaces, punctuation and camelCase humps, and XMLHttpRequest splits into XML, Http and Request.
How do I make a URL slug?
Use the URL slug row. It lowercases the text, removes accents (café becomes cafe), turns & into and, and replaces spaces and punctuation with hyphens, so "Kuih Raya & Café Menu 2026!" becomes kuih-raya-and-cafe-menu-2026. Google recommends hyphens rather than underscores to separate words in URLs.
