How the SSPN calculator works

  1. Deposits are added at the start of each month; a lump sum at the start of year 1.
  2. Dividend = yearly rate × average month-end balance, credited at the end of each year.
  3. Tax relief = this year's deposits, up to RM8,000.
  4. Tax saved = tax on chargeable income − tax after the relief (YA2026 resident rates).

Frequently asked questions

What is the SSPN dividend for 2025?

4.10%, announced by PTPTN in May 2026 and the highest in 11 years. It was 4.05% for 2024 and 3.60% for 2023. The dividend is credited straight into depositors' accounts.

How much will RM200 a month in SSPN grow to?

At 4.10% a year, RM200 a month for 18 years grows to about RM 63,496.58: RM 43,200.00 of deposits and RM 20,296.58 of dividends. After one year it is RM 2,453.30. Future dividends can be higher or lower.

How much tax relief does SSPN give?

Up to RM8,000 a year per taxpayer on SSPN deposits, available until YA2027. The cap is per taxpayer, not per child. Saving about RM667 a month uses the full relief.

How much tax do I save with SSPN?

Your relief times your top tax rate. At RM60,000 chargeable income, RM2,400 of deposits saves RM 264.00 and the full RM8,000 saves RM 880.00; at RM120,000 the full relief saves RM 2,000.00.

What is the difference between SSPN Prime and SSPN Plus?

Simpan SSPN Prime opens with as little as RM20 and has no monthly commitment. Simpan SSPN Plus has fixed monthly packages from about RM30 that split your payment between savings and takaful cover. Both earn the dividend and the tax relief.

Do withdrawals affect the SSPN tax relief?

Relief is on net savings for the year. LHDN and PTPTN set how withdrawals count, including withdrawals for a child's higher education, so check their current guidance before withdrawing in a year you claim.

Is SSPN better than a fixed deposit?

For a taxpayer, usually yes: the 2025 dividend of 4.10% is above typical FD rates, and the RM8,000 relief adds a tax saving on top. The money is meant for education, and the dividend is not guaranteed.
