How STR and SARA are worked out
- Category: household, single aged 21 to 59, or senior citizen 60+ without a spouse.
- Income band: up to RM2,500 or RM2,501 to RM5,000 (singles up to RM2,500 only).
- Children: 0, 1 to 2, 3 to 4, or 5 and more sets the household STR rate.
- SARA: RM1,200 a year for households (RM2,400 eKasih); RM600 for singles.

The exact amount per phase for each band is not officially published; the ranges above are from MOF media releases. Phase 4 of 2025 began on 18 October 2025; the 2026 date will be added as soon as MOF announces it.
Eligibility and how to apply
- Malaysian citizens only. Households: a married couple or single parent with gross household income of RM5,000 or less.
- Singles: aged 21 to 59 (OKU 19 to 59 with a JKM OKU card), income RM2,500 or less, not a full-time student.
- Senior citizens without a spouse: 60 or older; sources state an income cap of RM2,500 or RM5,000.
- Apply or update at bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my (MySTR) or with form BK-01; check status and appeal on the same portal.
- STR payments go to the registered bank account; recipients without one collect cash at a BSN branch.
- SARA is credited to MyKad automatically; there is no separate application.

How much STR will I get in 2026?
Households earning RM2,500 or less: RM700 (no children), RM1,200 (1 to 2 children), RM1,700 (3 to 4) or RM2,200 (5 or more) a year. RM2,501 to RM5,000: RM200, RM450, RM700 or RM950. Senior citizens without a spouse: RM600.
How much is SARA in 2026?
RM100 a month (RM1,200 a year) for STR households, or RM200 a month (RM2,400) for eKasih poor and hardcore poor households. Singles get RM50 a month (RM600). SARA is credited to MyKad for basic goods at participating shops.
Why is STR 2026 lower than 2025?
Every household cash rate was cut by RM300 and the value moved into SARA, which rose to at least RM1,200 a year. Example: a RM2,000 household with 3 children gets RM1,700 cash (2025: RM2,000) but RM 2,900.00 in STR and SARA together.
Do singles get STR in 2026?
Singles aged 21 to 59 (OKU 19 to 59) earning RM2,500 or less no longer get cash. They receive RM600 a year (RM50 a month) through SARA on their MyKad.
When is STR paid in 2026?
Phase 1 started on 20 January 2026, Phase 2 on 10 March (RM100 to RM600) and Phase 3 on 15 August (RM150 to RM600). Phase 4 applications and updates closed on 30 September 2026, but the payment date had not been announced as of 15 October 2026; Phase 4 of 2025 began on 18 October 2025. Payment goes to the registered bank account, or is collected in cash at BSN by those without one.
What is SARA untuk Semua?
RM100 once to every citizen aged 18 and over regardless of income, credited to MyKad on 9 February 2026 and usable until 31 December 2026. It is separate from the monthly SARA for STR recipients.
How much is STR and SARA in 2027?
Budget 2027 (9 October 2026) announced SARA of up to RM150 a month, at most RM1,800 a year, for STR recipients and a RM16 billion allocation. STR 2027 cash rates by income have not been published; they remain a proposal until the Budget is passed.
