Malaysian traditional units
Malaysia went metric in the 1970s, but the kati and tahil are still used at wet markets, in gold and herb shops and in old recipes, and the gantang in older padi and rice records.

Conflicting figures: some websites and newer market scales use a rounded kati of 600 g (the mainland Chinese jin is 500 g). The converter uses 1⅓ lb = 604.79 g, the figure given for Malaysia's Weights and Measures Act 1972 and Singapore's Act. Traditional length units (depa, hasta, jengkal) varied by region and are left out because we could not confirm one legal value.

1 kati = 0.60479 kg (604.79 g), because a kati is defined as 1⅓ pounds and a pound is exactly 0.45359237 kg. So 1 kg = 1.653 kati. A tahil is 1/16 kati (37.8 g) and a pikul is 100 kati (60.48 kg). Some market scales and websites round the kati to 600 g; the converter uses the legal 1⅓ lb definition.
How many litres is a gantang?
1 gantang = 1 imperial gallon = 4.54609 litres, and 1 cupak = ¼ gantang = 1.137 litres. The gantang is a volume, not a weight: how many kilograms of rice fill one depends on the grain, so convert by weighing rather than by a fixed kg figure.
What is 5 feet 6 inches in cm?

What is the difference between GB and GiB?
A gigabyte (GB) is 1,000,000,000 bytes; a gibibyte (GiB) is 1,073,741,824 bytes (2³⁰). Drive makers use GB, while Windows reports GiB but labels it "GB", which is why a 1 TB drive shows about 931.32 "GB". Internet speed is in megabits: 100 Mbps moves 12.5 megabytes a second.
How do I convert tyre pressure from psi to bar?
Divide by 14.504, or use the converter: 32 psi = 2.21 bar = 220.6 kPa. 1 psi is exactly 6,894.757 pascals and 1 bar is 100,000 pascals. Use the pressure printed on your car's door frame, measured when the tyres are cold.
How do I convert km/L to L/100 km or mpg?
L/100 km = 100 ÷ km/L, so 8 L/100 km = 12.5 km/L. For US mpg multiply km/L by 2.352; for UK mpg by 2.825 (the UK gallon is bigger). Fuel economy categories use these formulas, not a fixed factor, because L/100 km is a reciprocal.
