What to know about water tariffs
- SPAN review: the national water regulator reviews tariffs under its tariff-setting mechanism; the latest round took effect from August 2025 (Penang deferred to July 2026).
- Free water: some states give eligible households free water, such as Selangor's Skim Air Darul Ehsan (20 m³ a month) and Terengganu for B40 households; it is not deducted here.
- Not included: Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perlis, Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak, because their current full tables could not be confirmed.
- Save water: staying within 20 m³ a month keeps you in the cheapest band.

By blocks: the first 20 m³ at the band 1 rate, the next 15 m³ at the band 2 rate and the rest at the band 3 rate, with a minimum charge. In Selangor, 30 m³ = 20 × RM0.65 + 10 × RM1.62 = RM 29.20.
What is the water tariff in Selangor?
From 1 September 2025 Air Selangor charges RM0.65 per m³ for the first 20 m³, RM1.62 for 20 to 35 m³ and RM3.51 above 35 m³, with a RM6.50 minimum. Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya pay the same. 20 m³ costs RM 13.00 and 50 m³ RM 89.95.

1,000 litres. A household using 30 m³ a month uses about 1,000 litres a day. Your bill shows the m³ used between two meter readings.
Is there SST on water bills?
No. Domestic water supply is exempt from service tax; the government confirmed that water users stayed exempt when SST rose to 8% in March 2024.
Why are some states not in the calculator?
Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perlis, Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak are left out because their current full tariff tables could not be confirmed from two sources. Check your operator's latest bill or website.
